I progressed to St. Paul's Secondary School naturally, and school life was good when I was in Form One to Form 3..but halfway during Form 4, the shophouse I was staying since my schooldays was burnt down, together with my parent's belonging and their shop. All the things I had were also burnt to ashes...comic books, toys, my first personal computer, Nintendos, photographs, all my personal belongings are all gone that night!
We were at my brother's house watching TV at night after closing shop around 9.00 pm when we received a phone call from a relative staying neaby our shop. We rushed to the shop but it was too late, big flames had engulfed the shophouse...there was nothing that we can do at that moment, but to wait for the fireman to douse the fire. I can still remember my eldest brother saying 'Oh no..the shop is gone, the shop is gone..' I can see he was shedding tears when he saw the fire burning down our shophouse. He was helping my dad running the shop's business after he finished his Standard Six primary school..the event has dampened everybody's spirit..especially my dad's.
